On Sunday 9th March Fulham Lillies Chair, Sarah, co-hosted a powerful and insightful online conference as part of the Women’s Voice in the Men’s Game project, run by the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA). As chair of the project, Sarah was joined by Fans for Diversity manager Hannah Kumari and Nic Cave from the FSA in leading an event that brought together women from across football to share their experiences, discuss key issues and celebrate progress in making the game more inclusive.
The event provided a platform for women involved in football to discuss the realities of being a woman in a male-dominated space. From addressing issues of safety and inclusion at matches to highlighting the growing influence of women in fan activism, the discussions were both honest and inspiring.
Throughout the conference, speakers reflected on the progress made in recent years, but also on the barriers that still exist. The importance of creating safe environments for women at football grounds, the need for clubs to listen to female supporters, and the role of male allies in driving change were key themes that resonated throughout the event.
One of the most impactful moments of the day was hearing from women who have long been part of the football community but have often felt overlooked. Their stories reinforced why initiatives like Women’s Voice in the Men’s Game are so vital—not just for highlighting inequalities, but for ensuring that real change happens.
As Fulham Lillies, we’re proud to be part of this conversation and to stand alongside women across the game who are working to make football a more inclusive space.
